Students who perform highly at A’level are admitted to the department on merit and are sponsored by the government of Uganda. Tuition, accomodation and allowances are all catered for for these students.
The other students who are admitted are privately sponsored(cater for their own expenses). Some of these students go ahead though, to get sponsorship from non-governmental organisations.
The department coordinates a Masters programme, MSc Land Management, with Royal Technical Institute, KTH of Sweden. Students’ applications and interviews are tracked in the department in Makerere University. Successful students then study from the Royal Technical Institute of Sweden. The research is based on the Ugandan environment and is under the direction and supervision of members assigned by the Department in the Faculty of Technology, Makerere University.
