TUM SEED Center Opens Scholarship for Global South Students

The TUM SEED Center is an Excellence Centre for Exchange and Development, funded by DAAD and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development from 2020 to 2029. The TUM SEED Center conducts research and offers higher education at the intersection of Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship and Development (SEED) in the Global South. The TUM SEED Center consists of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and ten leading technical universities across the Global South, including Makerere University (Uganda).

The Technical University of Munich (TUM), through its Excellence Centre for Exchange and Development (SEED Center), has announced a new scholarship opportunity for students from the Global South. Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the program supports research and higher education at the intersection of Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship, and Development (SEED).

The scholarship covers one semester, running from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, and is open to students enrolled at TUM and its ten partner universities across the Global South, including Makerere University in Uganda.

The TUM SEED Center, established in 2020, aims to foster innovation and sustainable solutions by connecting academic institutions in Europe and the Global South. With funding secured until 2029, the initiative continues to strengthen international collaboration in tackling pressing global challenges such as energy access, climate change, and inclusive economic growth.
