Dr. Doreen Kyosimire is a Ugandan architect and academic serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, School of the Built Environment at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she has specialized in Architectural Design, Interior Design, and Basic Design, shaping generations of architects through her mentorship and instruction.
She holds a PhD in Architecture, making her one of the few Ugandan women to achieve this distinction, and is widely recognized for her contributions to both academia and professional practice. Beyond teaching, Dr. Kyosimire has played a pivotal role in Uganda’s architectural landscape, particularly in hotel and commercial design, with notable projects including BMK House in Kololo, Mbale Resort Hotel, Hotel Africana in Moroto, Kash Hotel in Mbarara, and Hotel Africana in Kampala.
Her research interests include sustainable architecture, interior design innovation, cultural identity in design, and the integration of modern technologies in architectural practice. She is celebrated as one of the women transforming Uganda’s construction and real estate industry, breaking barriers in a field traditionally dominated by men.
