Biography

Esther Ndagire Kavuma is an emerging Ugandan academic and designer committed to advancing applied design education and sustainable creative practices. She serves as an Assistant Lecturer at the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. With a background in Industrial Art and Applied Design, her teaching and mentorship focus on visual communication, product innovation, and eco‑friendly approaches to design. Her research interests include applied design solutions for contemporary challenges, sustainable creative practices, and the role of design in community development. Beyond academia, Esther has engaged in civic technology and innovation initiatives, including the Pollicy Fellowship, which explores data‑driven approaches to social impact. Through her teaching, research, and professional engagement, she contributes to strengthening Makerere University’s visibility while empowering students and communities to embrace design as a tool for sustainability and transformation.
