The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology is well known as the home of innovations. Students and staff continue to contribute to the body of knowledge through their work and in this way contribute towards the realization of the University’s vision of becoming research led University

  1. Research to produce green steel from iron ore. 
  2. Development of a Low-cost smart energy meter. 
  3. CEDAT Develops a Neural Text-To-Speech System
  4. Collaboration for Active Mobility in Africa (CAMA) Project. 
  5. Development of a Solar PV-Biogas Hybrid Microgrid Reference Design for Rural Communities in Uganda. 
  6. CEDAT Joins Efforts to Deliver Affordable Houses in Sub-Saharan Africa
  7. Innovations using low cost locally available materials for point of use water treatment system
  8. In 2024, a new grant of US$ 130,000 for the project, Estimation of Pathogen Hazards from Sanitation Technologies in Africa was signed. This project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA). The project started in January 2024 and is expected to end on 31 December 2025.
  9. In 2024, the Water, Behavior Change and Environmental Sanitation: Sustainable Solutions to Research, Knowledge and Professionalization (WABES) – Integrated Water, Sanitation and Solid Waste Services (INTEGRATE), received the second trance payment of US$ 59,986. The activities were implemented through 2024, which marked the transition from the second year to the third year of the project.
