Dr. Nathan Kibwami is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Construction Economics and Management, with a distinguished career in sustainable construction and real estate economics. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (Construction Project Management) from the University of Leeds, specializing in sustainable construction, an MSc in Land Management from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, and a First Class BSc in Building Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam. His research spans construction economics, climate change in the built environment, affordable housing, carbon accounting, and the advancement of research methods in construction management. Over the years, he has authored numerous peer‑reviewed publications addressing sustainability, value management, and the integration of carbon measurement tools in construction projects, making significant contributions to both academic scholarship and practical applications in the field.
Beyond his academic achievements, Dr. Kibwami has been recognized with multiple scholarships and awards, including the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship and the SIDA scholarship, and was twice named Best Student during his undergraduate studies. He is a Registered Quantity Surveyor in Uganda, a Fellow of the Institution of Surveyors of Uganda, and has served as Council Member and former Chairman of the Quantity Surveying Chapter. His leadership extends to mentoring future professionals and shaping policy discussions on sustainable construction and real estate management in Africa. With a career dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in the built environment, Dr. Kibwami continues to influence both academia and industry through his teaching, research, and professional service.
