Charles Nyakwebara is a Ugandan, born on 20th September 1974. He is an Urban Planner with a Bachelor of Urban Planning from Makerere University- Kampala, a Masters of Land Use and Regional Development (MUK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Governance and Management (UMI). He has been involved in training of Physical Planners for the last 17 years at Makerere University where he is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Physical Planning, School of the Built Environment, College of Engineering, Design Art and Technology (CEDAT). Currently, Charles teaches on the Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning program; Planning Law, Physical Planning Studio II, Environmental Planning and Management (EPM) and Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Systems (for Masters of Urban Planning and Design). 

Charles has attended and contributed in a number of seminars and workshops in the field of Physical Planning, Environmental Planning and Management, Housing and Urban Governance. However, his research interest is in the areas of Quality of Life and Development Control.

Charles is a self-motivated person; he has worked as physical Planner in Government for ten years, six (6) of which in Kampala City Council (2002 -2008), and four (4) years (2008-2012) in Uganda Investment Authority. He is a practicing Physical Planner and Director at Praid East Africa Limited since 2011. He also boasts of a wide experience in areas of physical planning in private practice spanning over ten (10 years), having successfully worked on a number of Consultancy Assignments both at Praid and with other private firms right from 2007. Charles has worked as Team Leader and successfully supervised a number of Physical Development Planning projects mainly for Central and Local Governments in Uganda.

Charles is a corporate member (Reg. No. 025) and immediate past President of the Uganda Institute of Physical Planners, he is a member of Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP) and a member of the Uganda Built Environment Professionals’ Association.
