Business (B-Schools) as Design (D-Schools) in the Design and Realisation of Sustainable Market Futures
A recent European framework (GreenComp) has called for educators to enable the development of four interrelated competence areas required to realise sustainable futures:
-> Embodying sustainability values’,
-> Embracing complexity in sustainability’,
-> Envisioning sustainable futures’ and
-> Acting for sustainability.
In this talk Dr Ryan shares her research on models of education required to support the development of competences required for the design and realisation of sustainable market systems. Drawing on insights from design and
studio-based education, she will propose the role of educational environments that are mission-led, where existing knowledge is respected, but always open to challenge in the creation of new objects, devices or systems.
We will consider how we can enable heutagogical, self-determined learning and its role in sustainable market system design, prototyping and testing.
