Course Description

The course will extend the research experience of the student through interrogating various materials, concepts and approaches. It will create an entry point through which the supervisor can offer constructive criticism regarding the appropriation and domestication of jewelry from various sources. The course is designed to position the student as a researcher who is in control of his/her destiny. Accumulation of contextual information and relating it to studio practices.

Research, experimentation and creative approaches necessary to inform the project.

Creative intellectual approach relating to visually led design innovation with strong links to theoretical and practical elements in jewellery.

 

Course Objectives

  • To prepare the student appreciate the intrinsic worth of the jewelry of other cultures
  • To build a consistent research profile and working regime that a working scheme that
  • To provide students with opportunity to pursue their own personal creative initiatives through studio based practises and intellectual enquiry that positions itself within a defined professional context.
