Course Description

 

The course will develop advanced knowledge and skills in the use of narrative storytelling in illustration, exploration with illustrative conventions in children’s and adult literature, comics and other media; students will develop the entrepreneurial and commercial skills necessary to progress to work to full potential and will equip them with the practical and intellectual skills to thrive as a practicing book illustrators. Students will develop personal viewpoints on specific subjects and situations including exploration of visual design approaches and processes to illustration

Course explores the structure of image sequencing and narration, project take an in-depth look at different types of storytelling methods and ways of developing visual design based on major principles

Course Objectives

The course enables Students to be able to:

  • Explain the storytelling in relation to different types of editorial illustration
  • Analyze , describe and relate  different types of storytelling methods and ways of      developing visual design based on major principles
  • Demonstrate image sequencing and narration
  • Use of narrative storytelling in illustration,
  • Illustrative conventions in book illustration
  • Explore  visual design approaches and processes used in  illustration
  • Visually demonstrate personal viewpoints on specific subjects and situations
