Short description

Information technology systems are becoming ever more central to society, especially in business and industry. As society and technology develop in parallel, the most important skills for the future lie in the development of individuals with the ability to both understand and manage these complex and interrelated systems. Consequently, aspects of business that were once seen in isolation (e.g., people, organisation, process, information and technology) are now expected to operate as part of a seamless whole – both within and across enterprises. This places stringent new demands on the knowledge, skills and technologies required to develop and control (manage) such systems.

The effective use of information technology is critical for organizations to achieve their operational and strategic goals. This course provides a platform for students to appreciate and understand the appropriate use of information technology systems in business decision making.

Course objectives:

Information technology systems focuses on integrating information technology solutions and business processes to meet the information needs of businesses and other enterprises, enabling them to achieve their objectives in an effective, efficient way.
