Dr. Ivan Bamweyana successfully defends his PhD.

Dr. Ivan Bamweyana from the Geomatics and Land Management Department at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology successfully defended his Ph.D. at an event held in the CEDAT Conference Hall on Wednesday 18th September 2024.

His Thesis was titled: Geostatistical Modelling of Spacial Temporal Patterns of Wet and Dry Conditions at a Local Scale in Uganda.

The study’s main objectiveswere to create a geostatistically oriented approach to modeling the special and temporal patterns of wet and dry conditions at a local scale in Uganda.

It set out to realize other objectives that include;

  • To assess the use of satellite gridded dataset for modeling precipitation-based wet and dry conditions at a local scale,
  • To model the spacial–temporal patterns of the wet and dry conditions at a local scale with input from satellite-gridded databases,
  • To determine the optimal geostatistical modeling and forecast algorithm for wet and dry conditions at a local scale with input from satellite-gridded data,
  • To determine the optical local scale at which special modeling can be performed in wet and dry conditions using satellite-gridded datasets.

The event was attended by staff, students, and well-wishers including his supervisors, Prof. Moses Musinguzi, who is the Principal of the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), and Dr. Lydia Mazzi Kayondo, the Head of the Department of Geomatics and Land Management.

The event was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Anthony Gidudu, the Dean of the School of the Built Environment.
