Preserving the Makerere Visual Art Heritage.

Scope of research activity

Documenting, Archiving the Makerere Visual Art Heritage both within the premises of the Institute and around Makerere campus.

Ongoing research

  1. Transforming and Digitising East African Art Ecosystem Upstream: Bringing East African Modernism into Tertiary Art Education in East Africa and Beyond – Supported by the Ignite Culture—British council.
  2. A heritage in the Mist – Documenting the Makerere Art Gallery Heritage supported by MAKRIF Makerere University

Major accomplishments

  1. Tracing the collection and documenting Visual Art from, Makerere Art Collection in IWALEWAHAUS (Byreuth) and Museum Wekuturen – Frankfurt –Germany. The outcome were, Symposia in Uganda and IWALEWAHAUS as well as photographing the work.
  2. Various art exhibitions  such as Different But One
