Accommodation & Student Housing

There are nine Halls of Residence available to undergraduate students on the Main Campus. Six of these are for male students (Lumumba, Livingstone, Mitchell, Nkurumah, Nsibirwa, and University Hall); while three are for female students (Africa, Complex, and Mary Stuart).

Makerere Engineering Society

Makerere Engineering Society is a students’ association that unites all students at the school of engineering under the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology at Makerere University. The association traces its roots back to 1971, a time when most engineering disciplines were introduced in the University and Uganda as a whole.

It is the pioneer students’ organisation in the Faculty of Technology (now College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology – CEDAT) and boasts of a rich vein of products over the years in terms of well placed engineers and professors as well as other professionals. With about 50 years of existance MES has had different success people throug its hand as they become part of the association when students.

Makerere Engineering Society

Religion & Spirituality

Makerere University encourages participation in religious activities and has two chapels and a mosque. There are also other places of worship within the University environs.

Catering Services

Includes six food courts operating in the kitchen and dinning halls of the various students’ housing.

The Campus Experience

The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) is one of the Colleges of Makerere University as provided in Section 29 0f the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act as amended in 2006. It comprises former Faculties of Technology and the Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Arts (MTSIFA) and has been operational for 12 years.

Parking

The College has more than 70 parking lots available around the college campus. The parking is available 12 hours with 24hours security. We make sure that everything is under control.

Sports & Recreation

Besides academics, all students are expected to take part in other activities such as sports, membership to clubs or professional societies. This creates an all-round student.

Hospital & Health Care

Makerere University Health Services (MakHS) refers to services offered by Makerere University Hospital, the Dental School and Satellite clinics at Kabanyolo and Jinja campuses.

Computer Labs

Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Dudenmouth.

Safety and Security

Makerere University has a fully fledged Police station with officers from Uganda Police Force working closely with Campus security to maintain security, law and order.

The Counselling and Guidance Centre is here to help you address personal or emotional challenges that may affect you while studying or working in Makerere University.
