Course Description

Many graduate students struggle with scholarly writing and presentation. The aim of this course is to equip students with the skills of effective scholarly writing and communication.  The course takes students through the process of writing a scholarly monograph, and articles of publishable quality in academic and scientific journals. The course also gives students the requisite knowledge in preparing conference presentations.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Make a quality conference presentation
  • Write a quality journal article
  • Appreciate ethics-related issues when writing a scholarly/scientific paper.
  • Understand and appreciate the different scholarly writing styles, but paying attention to the APA, the current preferred writing style by Makerere University.

The PLP in Drafting Legislation, Regulation, and Policy has been offered by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies with considerable success since 2004.
