CEDAT hosts delegation from Karlsruhe

The College of engineering, Design, Art and Technology on Friday January 25th hosted a delegation of researchers from Karlsruhe, Germany, led by the Mayor, Dr Frank Mentrup. The researchers were at Makerere university to seek ways in which the institutions from Germany can collaborate CEDAT researchers.

The delegation included people from The University of Karlsruhe, the institute of Applied Geoscience, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Jos Hansen & Soehne GmbH among others. The areas of research included renewable Energy and energy efficiency, software solutions for traffic management and transport logistics, system integration and water resources Engineering among others.

Also present at the meeting was the CEO of Uganda Development Bank, Mrs. Patricia Adongo Ojangole, which is facilitating this partnership. Also coordinating this visit is a team from Resilient Africa Network, Makerere University. 

This partnership includes researchers from Kyambogo University, Busitema University, Kiira Motors Corporation, EACREEE and CREEC.

Some of the things hoped to be achieved include a better academia-industry relationship which allows for graduates to train in entrepreneurship such that they make job rather than seek for jobs after university. The visiting researchers shared contacts with the Ugandan researchers and pledged to work together for the development of our countries and universities.
