The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has been granted permission by the CISCO Networking Academy to host some CISCO Career Certifications. Cisco Career Certifications are IT Professional certifications for Cisco Systems products. The tests are administered by Pearson VUE. There are five levels of certification: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert, and Architect. These are applied in seven different subject areas: Routing & Switching, Design, Network Security, Service Provider, Storage Networking, Voice, and Wireless.

The Head of department, Dr. Julius Butime said that these certifications will improve on the quality of our students, making them employable as soon as they graduate. He added that this will go a long way in enhancing the learner experience in their undergraduate programs by providing real life application of their skills. Studying these Cisco courses will not only make the student an expert in Cisco equipment but will also boost their networking fundamentals and analytical skills, that  they may apply for any kind of vendor eqipment who are in similar business like Cisco.

Shortly the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering shall be rolling out short courses for the students of the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology to and if capacity allows to the public.
