CEDAT receives delegation from University of Gezira

The College on Wednesday April 28th 2015 hosted a delegation from University of Gezira – Sudan as part of an implementation process for the Mou the university signed with Makerere University. The two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2014 to foster cooperation in the fields of research and higher education. The Sudanese delegation was led by the Vice Chancellor of Gezira Prof. Mohammed Warrag Omer.

The two universities will be collaborating in the areas of research, student and staff exchange, join grant application, curriculum development, supervision and examination of Masters and PhD research.

The university will also cooperate in the area of Graduate teaching assistantship (members of staff). This will work in such a manner that, if one researcher wants to pursue graduate studies, then the hosting university will waive tuition and provide accommodation. The sending university will then cater for the research costs.

For student exchange; the students pay the local fees of the university they are moving to.

Credit transfer is also agreed upon in the MoU.

University of Gezira hopes to establish research in the area of GiS in collaboration with CIT and Dept. of Agriculture.  The meeting resolved that researchers from both institutions identify funding envelops so that we can all apply for this money.
