Thursday 14th June 2012: The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology hosted a delegation from the University of Johannesburg. The University of Johannesburg (UJ), is one of the largest, multi-camps, residential universities in South Africa. The university has four campuses –Auckland Park Kingsway, Auckland Park Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto.

The university is seeking to collaborate with Makrerere University. The team first met with the university administration on Wednesday. The delegation was received by the Dean of the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts as well as chairs of departments and lecturers.

The enjoyed visiting the exhibition by Masters of Art students on the 3rd floor of the new building. They also learnt about solar testing and biogas from the team at CREEC. From here they made their way to the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts where breath-taking pieces of art are being exhibited. Here, they were lost for choice on which piece of art was better than the other. Their one-day visit ended at 4pm.

  • Teaching and learning- this will include co-authoring of papers by staff of both universities

  • Staff exchanges
  • Student exchanges
