High level Norwegian delegation visits CEDAT

dsc02907The CEDAT, as one of the beneficiaries of support from the Norwegian government on March 5, 2013 received a high level delegation, which was visiting the university to assess the impact of their support to the University. The NORAD delegation, led by Paul R. Fife visited CEDAT at 3pm. They were accompanied by the Director of Planning and Development. At CEDAT, the group was received by the Deputy Principal of the College, Assoc. Prof. Mackay Okure and the Dean of the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts, Dr Venny Nakaziwe.

The delegation visited the Telecom Laboratory, the Environmental Engineering Laboratory and paid a courtesy call on the Principal. All these laboratories and well as administrative offices are in the new building that was donated by the government of Norway in 2009 and commissioned by the then Ambassador  H.E Bjorg Leite. The delegation commended CEDAT for putting the building to good use.

The building houses equipment and Computer laboratories, lecture rooms, administrative offices, and offices of teaching staff for the departments of Architecture, Electrical and Computers Eng, Geomatics and Land Managements, Construction Economics and Management and the Head of Civil Engineering.

The delegation commended the government for its support towards science and technology especially equipment of the laboratories. They were greatly impressed by the equipment in the laboratories and they called on ways which can grow collaboration between Makerere and NORAD.

Norway also supports Masters Programmes like MSc TIID, MSc Renewable Energy and also supports the Renewable Incubation Centre. They previously supported PhDs for 5 members of staff.

CEDAT is grateful for the support from the Government and People of Norway.
