Guests from CUP listening closely to Prof. Alinaitwe’s presentation

On 7th January 2019, officials from the China University of Petroleum (CUP) visited the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology. Their visit was a follow up to the MoU signed with Makerere University in December 2018 that will see CUP with funding from the Chinese Government establish Public Safety Lab in Makerere University together with an Institute of Petroleum Studies.

The visitors were welcomed by the Principal of CEDAT, Prof. Henry Alinaitwe, who assured them of CEDAT’s interest in collaborating with the University to offer staff and student exchanges, knowledge transfer, among others.

During their visit at the College, the Professors from CUP were given a tour of the different laboratories in the College, ranging from the structures lab to the GIS lab to the water resources lab.

Founded in 1953, the China University of Petroleum was established to develop and mentor technological skills for the petroleum industry. Today, it has about 80,000 students, 1,782 faculty and 1,020 Professors and Associate Professors and is regarded as one of the best universities in the field of petroleum related subjects in China.
