The Department of Geomatics and Land Management organized a training in  pedagogical skills for its staff. The training was held from 16th – 18th December 2011 at Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe.  The training workshop, which also doubled as a Team Building workshop was facilitated by Dr. Gilian Kasirye from School of Education and Dr. Karuhanga Monica from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

The workshop was opened by the Principal of the College of Engineering Design, Art, and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe. In his opening Speech, he thanked the Department for becoming more organized than in the Past. He stressed the need for pedagogical skills among all teaching staff in the College.  He indicated that it was the plan of the College to have all the staff trained in pedagogical skills including modern learning concepts such as learner centered pedagogy.

The Dean ,  School of the Built Environment, Assoc. Prof. Henry Alinaitwe congratulated the Department for organizing such a training. He, among other things thanked the Department for transparency and efficiency  in utilizing the facilities provided under the MSI funded project.

The Head of Department, Dr. Moses Musinguzi indicated that this was the 3rd in the series of trainings  in pedagogical skills. The first training covered basics of curriculum development while the second training covered teaching and learning concepts and practices.  This particular training focused on assessment, monitoring and evaluation.
