Dr. David Martin Amitu is a telecommunications engineer and academic affiliated with Makerere University’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT). He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University, a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Trento, Italy, and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering from Makerere University.
His research focuses on machine-type communications, resource allocation for 5G networks, sensor networks, and public safety networks. He has published in reputable journals and conferences, including work on hybrid access control mechanisms for massive machine-type communications and dynamic bandwidth allocation schemes.
Beyond academia, Dr. Amitu serves as Senior Program Officer – Digital Resource and Development at the RUFORUM Secretariat, where he contributes to ICT and telecommunications initiatives across Africa. With over 12 years of experience in Telecom/IT, he combines academic research with practical expertise to advance digital innovation and connectivity.
