Research Interests: Geodesy, Radar Remote sensing and Land Management
Dr. Brian Makabayi, PhD is a Lecturer in the Department of Geomatics and Land Management, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. He holds a PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree from Makerere University, reflecting a strong academic trajectory in geomatics. His research interests span geodesy, radar remote sensing, and land management, with a particular focus on applying geospatial technologies to land tenure and environmental challenges. Dr. Makabayi has published on topics such as tropospheric delay modelling, land tenure systems and urban development, and ground deformation in landslide‑prone areas using GPS and PS‑InSAR. His collaborative work includes contributions to international projects on securing land rights for smallholder farmers in Uganda, Laos, and the Philippines. Through teaching, supervision, and applied research, Dr. Makabayi advances the role of geomatics in sustainable land governance and environmental resilience, strengthening Makerere University’s impact in both national and global contexts.
