Dr. Edwin Mugume is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Makerere University. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering (First Class Honours) from Makerere University, MSc in Communication Engineering (with Distinction) from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester. His doctoral research focused on energy-efficient deployment strategies for dense heterogeneous cellular networks, contributing to the advancement of sustainable communication systems.
Dr. Mugume’s research interests include green heterogeneous cellular networks, 5G technologies, energy harvesting strategies, and stochastic geometry approaches to wireless network analysis. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and his work bridges theoretical research with practical applications. In addition to academia, he has industry experience in radio frequency planning and optimization of mobile cellular networks, making him a valuable mentor and innovator in next-generation communication technologies.
