Biography

Dr. Geofrey Bakkabulindi is a Ugandan academic and energy expert with extensive experience in electrical engineering and energy policy. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, where his research focused on planning low-cost electricity distribution networks for rural electrification. He also earned a Master of Engineering from KTH, specializing in sustainable power systems. Dr. Bakkabulindi serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Makerere University, where he teaches and supervises research in renewable energy, rural electrification, and power distribution. His scholarly work includes contributions to IEEE publications on single-wire earth return systems, renewable integration, and climate change impacts on electricity supply. Beyond academia, he has worked with Uganda’s Electricity Regulatory Authority, advising on energy policy and regulation. His career bridges research and practice, advancing affordable and sustainable electrification solutions in East Africa.
