Research interests: Geoenvironmental Engineering, Solid Waste Management, Tunnel Engineering & Structural Safety, Soil Characterization & Testing.
Dr. Gilbert Joseph Kasangaki is a Ugandan civil engineer and researcher specializing in geoenvironmental engineering, soil mechanics, and solid waste management. He holds advanced training in civil and environmental engineering and serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University.
His research focuses on soil behavior under varying moisture conditions, tunnel engineering, and structural fire safety, with notable contributions to the study of granular materials and their water retention characteristics. He has published in international conferences and journals, including work on in-situ soil bearing capacity using dynamic cone penetrometers and the volumetric behavior of compacted laterites.
Dr. Kasangaki’s professional interests extend to geoenvironmental engineering, groundwater seepage, and sustainable solid waste management, reflecting his commitment to advancing infrastructure resilience and environmental sustainability in Uganda and beyond.
