Research Interests:
Max Kigobe is a Ugandan civil engineer and academic renowned for his expertise in water resources management and climate resilience. He studied engineering in Uganda and later pursued advanced training in hydrology and climate modeling at Imperial College London. Returning home, he joined Makerere University’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), where he has served for more than two decades as a Senior Lecturer. His teaching and mentorship have shaped generations of engineers, emphasizing practical solutions to East Africa’s environmental challenges.
Kigobe’s research focuses on the Nile Basin and IGAD basins, modeling hydrological systems under climate change to guide sustainable water use and adaptation strategies. He has published widely and consulted on projects that bridge academic research with real-world applications. Today, he continues to balance teaching, research, and consultancy, remaining a respected voice in climate resilience and water resource management across the region.
