Biography

Dr. Moses Matovu is a Ugandan engineer and academic specializing in structural and earthquake engineering. He studied civil engineering at Makerere University before pursuing advanced training at the University at Buffalo, New York, where he deepened his expertise in earthquake-resistant design and structural analysis.

He began his professional career as a structural engineer and later worked as an assistant resident engineer on major construction projects in Uganda, gaining practical experience in infrastructure development. In 1999, he joined Makerere University’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) as a lecturer, a role he has held for more than two decades.

At CEDAT, Matovu teaches courses in structural engineering, earthquake engineering, and construction management. His academic work emphasizes the importance of resilient infrastructure in regions prone to seismic activity. He is also active in mentoring young engineers, bridging theory with practice, and contributing to Uganda’s engineering capacity.
