Biography

Dr. Ronald Mpindi Kibudde is a Lecturer and Masters’ Coordinator in the Department of Industrial Art and Applied Design at Makerere University. He teaches courses in Cultural Studies, Ceramic Design, Jewelry Design, Design Drawing, and supervises independent study at the graduate level. His research focuses on ceramic glaze science, material research, firing ranges of clays, and jewelry methods and techniques. Dr. Mpindi earned his BIFA from Makerere University and pursued both MFA and Ph.D. degrees at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he specialized in ceramics and design. He is a member of the NORPART Project Common Ground (2022–2027), advancing collaborative research in art and design. His work has been presented at international forums, including the Uganda Design Summit 2023, and published in journals such as Kiln Remodeling and its Use with Bizen-like Pottery Firing Techniques (2016). He is based at Kingdon House, Makerere University.
