Research Interests:
Dr. Mwesigwa Stephen is a Ugandan scholar and lecturer in the Department of Industrial Art and Applied Design at Makerere University’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT). His academic training and professional expertise lie in the intersection of design, innovation, and applied art, with a focus on advancing creative industries and sustainable design practices in Uganda. At CEDAT, he contributes to teaching, curriculum development, and mentorship, preparing students to integrate artistic creativity with industrial applications. His research interests span product design, visual communication, and the role of applied art in socio-economic development. Through his work, Dr. Mwesigwa emphasizes design as a driver of innovation, cultural identity, and community empowerment. He has been actively involved in institutional projects and collaborations that strengthen Makerere University’s role as a hub for industrial art and applied design in East Africa
