Hilary Bakamwesiga is a Ugandan civil engineer and academic serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Makerere University’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT). He earned his PhD in Engineering from Makerere University in 2018, focusing on bridge monitoring and management systems.
His research interests include the vulnerability of structures to environmental conditions, the impacts of climate change on infrastructure, and risk assessment for resilient design. He has also contributed to studies on water management and sustainability, addressing challenges posed by urbanization and climate variability in East Africa.
Beyond research, Dr. Bakamwesiga teaches courses in Environmental Studies, Human Resource Management, and Entrepreneurship Education, reflecting his multidisciplinary approach. Through teaching, mentorship, and consultancy, he continues to advance sustainable engineering practices and resilient infrastructure development in Uganda and the wider region.
