Research Interests: Urban Mobility & Walkability
Lukenge Kamya Richard is a lecturer in Visual Communication Design and Multimedia at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with research focusing on urban mobility, walkability, and sustainable non-motorized transport in developing cities.
His work bridges inclusive design and sustainability, integrating disability and vulnerability considerations into design pedagogy. Lukenge has served as a visiting researcher at York University, Toronto, contributing to international knowledge exchange in design and urban studies.
He has presented research on re-envisioning non-motorized transport for sustainable futures, aligning his scholarship with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His teaching and mentorship emphasize applied design for social impact, preparing students to address pressing challenges in African urban contexts.
