Biography

Mr. Joseph Sematimba is a Ugandan design practitioner, researcher, and lecturer at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. He teaches in the Department of Visual Communication Design and Multimedia at the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Art. With over three decades of professional experience, he also serves as Creative Director at the Art and Design Consultant Consortium, where he has led projects blending design innovation with community engagement. His academic and professional work emphasizes visual communication, multimedia design, and applied research in art and design education. Passionate about nurturing creative talent, Mr. Sematimba integrates practical consultancy experience into his teaching, equipping students with skills for both local and global contexts. His contributions reflect a commitment to advancing design education in Uganda and strengthening the role of visual communication in sustainable development.
