Biography

Eng. Philip Murungi is a Ugandan structural engineer and academic specializing in structural design, innovative construction materials, and fire engineering. He serves as an Assistant Lecturer at Makerere University, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), where he teaches and supervises students in civil and structural engineering.

He holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Manchester, where his research focused on innovative construction using cross-laminated bamboo sandwich panels. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Makerere University and has pursued professional certification in Engineering Project Management.

Beyond academia, Eng. Murungi has extensive professional experience as Head of Design Development and Project Manager at Aquila Gallery Ltd, contributing to the design and implementation of diverse building projects. He is a Registered Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (Uganda) and has additional training in humanitarian engineering skills.

His research interests include advanced structural analysis, sustainable construction materials, fire safety in structures, and experimental methods in civil engineering, reflecting his commitment to advancing resilient and sustainable infrastructure in Uganda.
