Research Interests: Public Transport, Non Motorised Transport, Climate Change and Gender.
Nakanwagi Orashida is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. She holds academic training in Urban Planning and Physical Planning from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, and is currently advancing her scholarship through doctoral research at Makerere University, where she recently defended her PhD.
Her teaching and mentorship focus on equipping students with practical and theoretical knowledge in urban and regional planning, emphasizing sustainable approaches to city growth and infrastructure development. She actively contributes to departmental research initiatives that address Uganda’s pressing challenges of rapid urbanization, spatial planning, and community engagement.
Through her academic work, Orashida demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable urban development, participatory planning, and regional integration, positioning her as an emerging scholar dedicated to shaping inclusive and resilient cities in Uganda and beyond.
