Associate Professor Anthony Gidudu has been ushered into the office of the Dean, School of the Built Environment in the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology. This follows a handover ceremony held this afternoon Monday 7th February 2022 in the College Board room.

In his hand over remarks, the outgoing Dean Prof. Moses Musinguzi extended his appreciation to the staff that accorded him the necessary support through his eight year tenure.  He introduced the incoming dean to the respective staff both teaching and administrative and asked them to accord him the needed support for him to deliver.

He highlighted some of the major responsibilites handled by the dean that ranged from the coordination of teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer and partnerships.  He said the unit was in the final stages of approving a new program, Master of Science in Land Management which was at the National Council for Higher Education and offered to make the necessary follow up.

Dr. Anthony Gidudu, the incoming Dean applauded the goodwill and support rendered to him by the departments in the School of the Built environment and more specifically the leadership and management skills exhibited by his predecessors, Prof. Moses Musinguzi and Prof. Henry Alinaitwe respectively. He committed himself towards ensure that he follows their positive management traits during his four years in the office of the dean. He urged the team to keep together, harness the collective energy, talents and skills as they build a vibrant School.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Principal, Prof. Henry Alinaitwe who charged the incoming leader and the team to work towards realizing an increase in the number of graduate students graduating.  He also observed that a number of programs in the college were reviewed and urged the incoming dean to ensure they got accredited in addition to the new program, Masters in Land Management.

The Principal called for timely submission of results as well as ensuring that the teaching and learning commences as planned.  As a member of all the college Committees, Dr. Anthony Giduduwas asked to reorganize his schedules to be able to fit in and to step up the area of resource mobilization from the Research and Innovations fund (RIF) and other sources.

The event was witnessed by the Deputy Principal, Dr. Venny Nakazibwe, Dr. Lydia Mazzi Kayondo, from Geomatics and Land Management, Dr. Kibwami Nathan from the School of Construction Economics and Management, as well as Dr. Amin Tamale Kiggundu from Architecture and Physical Planning.  Others included the Principal Human resource Officer, Ms. Apolot Opolot, and the School Registrar Mr. Moses Kasujja
