Course Description:

The course introduces the basic and fundamental principles of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) focusing on the Global Positioning System and its applications in surveying. The most important GPS positioning techniques will be discussed including an analysis of the factors that affect the accuracy of GPS positioning. The course prepares students to plan and carry out GPS surveys.

  • Introduce the basic principles of positioning using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).
  • Discuss the different errors that affect satellite positioning and their mitigation
  • Present  the basic principles of GNSS software and hardware
  • Provide students with the skills required to plan and execute GPS surveys
