Course Description:

This course is designed to enable students develop an understanding of negotiation theory and practice; develop negotiation skills and an appreciation of dispute resolution techniques, especially mediation.

 

Course Objectives:

To help students:

  • Identify the common causes of land disputes and understand the role of a surveyor in dispute resolution
  • Appreciate negotiation as a process within the alternative dispute resolution spectrum.
  • Understand the nature of negotiation, strategies for effective negotiation and differentiate among various models of negotiation
  • Appreciate the impact of gender, culture, and an expanded table on negotiation
