This course is designed to enable students develop an understanding of negotiation theory and practice; develop negotiation skills and an appreciation of dispute resolution techniques, especially mediation.
To help students:
- Identify the common causes of land disputes and understand the role of a surveyor in dispute resolution
- Appreciate negotiation as a process within the alternative dispute resolution spectrum.
- Understand the nature of negotiation, strategies for effective negotiation and differentiate among various models of negotiation
- Appreciate the impact of gender, culture, and an expanded table on negotiation
