Call for applications Graduate Fellow – Sculpture Carving and Modelling

The Department of Fine Art at Makerere University has announced a call for applications for the position of Graduate Fellow in Sculpture Carving and Modelling. The fellowship, which offers one slot, is designed to strengthen teaching and learning activities within the department while nurturing the next generation of fine art professionals. Applications close on 24th June 2026.

According to the announcement, the Graduate Fellow will report directly to the Head of the Department of Fine Art and will play a vital role in supporting academic staff. Key responsibilities include preparing teaching materials, providing technical assistance during studio and tutorial sessions, supervising undergraduate projects, and participating in departmental research and outreach activities. The fellow will also be tasked with promoting the safe use of machinery and tools, as well as offering academic guidance and counseling to students.

Eligibility for the position requires applicants to hold an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Fine Art or Fine Art, with at least Upper Second Class Honours. In addition, candidates must be enrolled in the Master’s in Fine Art programme at Makerere University. Interested applicants are expected to submit an application letter, admission letter, CV, academic transcripts, portfolio, and contact details of three referees to the Department of Fine Art, Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Art, by the stated deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
