Biography

Dr. Kiggundu Amin Tamale is an urban planner as well as a transport expert. He is currently teaching at Makerere University,  and serving as the Head of Department Architecture and Physical Planning in  the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Makerere University and serving as an associate consultant in urban planning at Uganda Management Institute (UMI).

Kiggundu has also served as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Transportation, published by the Arizona State University in the United States of America. He is widely consulted on various urban issues in Uganda and has published several papers in international reputable journals. More importantly, Kiggundu served as the Lead Consultant/Team Leader in drafting the Uganda Urban Policy, a project that was funded by the World Bank & UNDP.

Kiggundu has lived in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and Japan. His research interests and areas of academic expert include: urban planning, urban management/ governance, urban sustainability, land use and transportation planning, urban transport planning and management, public transport systems, sustainable development, project planning and management, transport financing as well as urbanization and the environment
