Makerere University architecture students on recess term presented their proposed design for the Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) home to the MUASA Executive.
The presentation, held on July 12, 2026 in Studio 3 at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), was made before a team led by MUASA Chairman Assoc. Prof. Jude Sempebwa. The work was superintended by Assoc. Prof. Kenneth Ssemwogerere, Head of the Department of Architecture.

Three student groups delivered detailed presentations, moving from the ideation stage through to full design impressions. The MUASA Executive commended the students for the seriousness and quality of their work, noting that the submissions exceeded expectations.
“The quality of work presented by our students was outstanding and surpassed our expectations. Their creativity and professionalism give us confidence in the future of the MUASA home,” said Assoc. Prof. Jude Sempebwa, MUASA Chairman.

Following the session, the groups agreed to merge their ideas into a single consolidated design for the proposed MUASA home. The initiative formed part of the students’ recess term assignment, aimed at bridging academic training with practical, real-world projects while contributing to the future of MUASA.
