The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) proudly unveiled its Annual Report for 2025, a testament to resilience, creativity, and transformative impact.
In his message, Principal Prof. Moses Musinguzi expressed heartfelt gratitude to faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders whose dedication continues to advance teaching, research, and community engagement. “Together, we are shaping innovations that strengthen our academic community and drive solutions for society,” he noted.
Fondly referred to as “A Home of Innovation”, CEDAT remains a hub of excellence with over 2,724 students and 245 staff members across three schools and eleven departments. Guided by its mission to deliver teaching, research, and outreach responsive to national, regional, and global needs, the College achieved remarkable milestones in 2025.
Research and Innovation at the Core
CEDAT reaffirmed its role as a center of excellence, producing graduates of distinction and pioneering research. Faculty and students contributed to groundbreaking projects in sustainable energy, urban development, climate change, and creative design. More than 60 peer-reviewed publications strengthened the College’s visibility in global scholarship.
Strategic partnerships with UN-Habitat, the Volkswagen Foundation, and UNESCO expanded research capacity and impact. The College also hosted the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) for consultations on Uganda’s Defense Research and Development Policy, underscoring its national relevance.
Infrastructure and Graduate Education
CEDAT invested in modern laboratories, studios, and learning spaces, ensuring practical training environments that prepare graduates to tackle real-world challenges. Graduate education grew steadily, with increased enrollment and completion rates across programs, a reflection of the College’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of scholars and innovators.
Looking Ahead
As CEDAT embraces its identity rooted in accountability, professionalism, inclusivity, integrity, and respect, Prof. Musinguzi extended gratitude to the Government of Uganda, Makerere University Management, staff, students, and partners for their invaluable support.
“Together, we will continue to build a college that transforms ideas into impact,” he affirmed.
