Who is Sseruwo Sulaiman?
Sseruwo Sulaiman was born in kalungu district, lukaya town council, from a humble family of the late Nakayiza Joweria (MHSRIP) and an Artist Mr. Kiyemba Erias (who introduced the former Dean, school of industrial and fine art Makerere University Dr. Kizito Maria Kasule in the field of art). Sseruwo is a former two time guild representative councillor (GRC) from Margaret Trowell School of industrial and Fine Arts Makerere University (2020-22), treasurer WAMSA (2014-16), head prefect Wagwa high school (2017-18) and head boy Good shepherd Junior school (2011).He started working with his father at the age of 8 during holidays in different fields of Art and design; such as painting and graphics. At the age of 13, Sulaiman started working on personal projects from various clients which enabled him pay part of his school fees, it was a pivot and a great positive impact on hisacademic performance because he tested on the pain his parents were going through in the process of looking for his school fees, he was able to get a first grade in PLE and UCE, and 19 points in UACE exams; Sulaiman was ranked by UNEB and appeared in both New Vision and Daily Monitor as the best student 2018 UACE exams in Kalungu District from Wagwa high school.
How I made it:
First and foremost I put trust in the Almighty Allah. Discipline, honesty, consistent praying, hardworking,
dedication and good time management was the key for my success. Thinking about my humble background also pushed me to work hard in order to achieve my dreams. Due to the demanding nature of our course (BIFA) in terms of numerous expensive materials, tools and countless course works, I could spend sleepless nights (to the extent that my eyes were always red) in order to finish course works before the deadline and also to work on some commercial projects which enabled me to get money for buying materials. History of all great works is to witness that no great work was done without either the active or passive support of a person’s surrounding and one’s close quarters. (Durgesh. K.S) Thus it is not hard to conclude how active assistance and advise from my altruistic father Mr. Kiyemba Erias, Mr. Lutwama Nicholas, Mpagi Erias (brother), Nakibuuka Sharifah (sister),Nakyeyune Aisha, Ssempala Joseph and Namatovu Rosette could positively impact my success.
My advice to others:
My advice to brothers and sisters is that success or excellence does not depend on where someone is coming from but rather his or her attitude towards achieving his or her goals and dreams, therefore it is better for a person to forego what he wants in order to get what he needs and also to focus on making good friends that will keep him/her on the right path.
