The course helps to introduce students to various issues related to development and the environment. Students of architecture are also taught to recognize the close relationship that exists between development and the environment and how the environment has emerged as an important policy issue and a key element of sustainable development.
- To develop an analytical and critical understanding of the significance of the environment as a key component of sustainable development.
- To exhibit an understanding of the importance of protecting the environment in undertaking development projects and key human activities such as industrialization, housing, agriculture and transportation.
- To develop a critical understanding of the ecological issues, pollution (air and water pollution), solid waste management and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
