Course Description:

The course introduces and discusses laws relating to surveying, registration and transaction in land in general. It introduces the major provisions in the Ugandan previous and current laws such as the Land Act 1998.  Furthermore, the course introduces other basic laws relating to the work of a surveyor such as such as law of contract, mortgages and expropriation.

Course Objectives:

This course aims to:

  • Develop a basic understanding of key legal concepts and terminologies to students.
  • Facilitate students to analyze the evolution and development of land law in Uganda.
  • Identify the various laws that govern survey and transaction in land in Uganda.
