Course Description

The course involves advanced research and analytical skills for studio practice in the field of fashion design. The students are given individual guidance in undertaking original research and generating fashion concepts inspired by historical isms in related disciplines like painting, sculpture, architecture and music both in Africa and the West. Advanced anatomy and analysis of the idealized fashion female and male figures will be emphasized alongside developing of individual fashion styles.

Course Objectives:

The course is designed to:

  • 1. Prepare the learner to develop advanced skill to carry out independent research-driven project in Fashion design.
  • 2. Expose the learner to other artistic forms and disciplines that can provide potential resources for fashion conceptualisation.
  • 3. Enable the learner to carry out practical studies that will lead to original fashion concepts in the preferred category (men’s wear, women’s wear, children’s wear, fashion-accessories).
  • 4. Equip learners with advanced drawing skills necessary for artistic self- expression in fashion.
