This year April 25th marks the International Girls in ICT Day that will be celebrated internationally under the theme “Expand Horizons, Change Attitudes”

. This Day has been established by ITU Resolution 70, with the aim to celebrate girls’ interests and strengths and encourage them to choose a career in ICT. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the body of the United Nations in charge of information and communication technologies. Their mandate is encourage the world to use technology, set unified standards globally and address issues that are raised with technology development. Under its auspice Girls’ Day is celebrated worldwide.

With the message, “Expand Horizons, Change Attitudes”, the STEM Women initiative has reached out to promote careers in ICT and engineering. We would like to invite you to partner in our celebrations and participate in the Public Seminar on Girls in ICT Day. The key panel of the day, including Eng. Ziria Waako, Director, Technical Regulation, ERA and Mr. Michael Sekadde, GM Human Resources, MTN, will address issues including:
·         Insights about engineering careers and paths to get there
·         How to balance social and work lives
·         Advice and tips on preparing for and working in an engineering company
